Chiefs

‘See y’all at Burrowhead Stadium,’ Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones says. Wait what?

In case Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones wasn’t heard the first time, he dropped a second reference as he left the Friday meeting with a group of reporters.

“See y’all at Burrowhead Stadium,” Jones said.

The moniker was used for the first time a week ago by Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Mike Hilton on the sideline of the AFC Divisional Round game at Buffalo. It was captured by NFL Films as the Bengals were putting the finishing touches on a victory over the Bills.

“We’ll see you all at Burrowhead,” Hilton said, referencing the Bengals’ next stop in the playoffs.

To refresh, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and the Bengals defeated the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium a year ago, and the teams meet there again Sunday in this year’s title game.

The two teams, Chiefs and Bengals, have engaged in a light and mostly respectful exchange of words in the leadup to Sunday evening’s showdown.

Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark even called Burrow the “best in the game” from the pocket.

“He’s got that Peyton Manning in him,” Clark said. “No matter how many times he gets hit, how many times he’s getting knocked down, he’s getting back up. ... He knows how to read safeties and how to read the defense.”
