Chiefs

Vote now: Do you consider Patrick Mahomes or Jalen Hurts to be NFL MVP front-runner?

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been considered the favorite to win the MVP award for a good portion of the season, but a couple of recent factors worked against his candidacy.

In the Chiefs’ win Sunday at Denver, Mahomes had three interceptions, while Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has 597 passing yards, five touchdown throws and no interceptions in his last two games.

The Sporting News said the oddsmakers now have Hurts listed at No. 1 with Mahomes in second place.

However, ESPN’s Courtney Cronin put Mahomes ahead of Hurts in her latest MVP outlook.

“Mahomes has continued to make his case as the most valuable player in the NFL with the league-best in passing yards and touchdown passes, all of which he has done without receiver Tyreek Hill,” Cronin wrote. “Mahomes threw three touchdown passes against the Broncos in Week 14, but also threw three interceptions -- the most he has thrown in a game since late 2020 and just one week after the Chiefs lost to the Bengals — which is probably why his MVP odds have dipped since midseason.”

Who do you consider the favorite to be the NFL’s MVP this season? Vote below.
