Here’s a great sign for the Chiefs approaching Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans
The Chiefs had a full house for Thursday’s practice ahead of Sunday’s road game against the Houston Texans.
And that includes two players working their way back from injuries: wide receivers Kadarius Toney (hamstring) and Mecole Hardman (abdominal).
Toney put in a limited practice Wednesday; the Chiefs weren’t required to list Hardman’s participation level on Wednesday’s injury report because he remains on injured reserve.
Whether the duo will be able to play Sunday is uncertain, but the fact they were able to practice in some capacity was certainly welcome news around One Arrowhead Drive.
“Our training room has done a great job of getting those guys ready to participate with practice, but we’ll just see how it goes,” Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy said recently. “The thing that our training room does, they do a great job. So, we’re just going to go from there and see what exactly takes place.”
Key for Toney will be his participation level Friday. A full workout would be a good sign. The Chiefs later designated Toney, who hasn’t played since Week 11, as a limited participant in Thursday’s practice.
As for Hardman, the Chiefs on Wednesday officially opened a 21-day window in which they’ll evaluate his progress before deciding whether to activate him to their 53-player roster. Hardman has missed four games and is eligible to return Sunday if the Chiefs believe he’s ready.
Rookie cornerback Nazeeh Johnson was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice and returned to a full practice with the following players:
- QB Patrick Mahomes (right hand)
- WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (toe)
- LB Nick Bolton (groin)
- S Deon Bush (elbow)
- RB Isiah Pacheco (shoulder, quad)
- OL Lucas Niang (knee)
- S Justin Reid (shoulder)
- G Trey Smith (knee)
- CB L’Jarius Sneed (calf)
- CB Jaylen Watson (hand)
- DT Derrick Nnadi (Achilles)
