Chiefs’ Mecole Hardman back at practice, opening 21-day window to return from IR
Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman (abdomen) took a positive step in his attempt to return from injured reserve.
The Chiefs on Wednesday officially designated Hardman as returned to practice, which opens a 21-day window for the team to decide to activate Hardman to the 53-player roster.
“We’ll just see how he does with this ramp-up process,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said.
The Chiefs don’t have to use the full 21-day window and could elect to activate Hardman from the reserve/injured list in time for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans.
Reid, however, was noncommittal on that scenario.
“Haven’t determined play or not play,” Reid said. “We’re just going to ease him back in and see where he’s at.”
Hardman didn’t play against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 10 and then landed on injured reserve on Nov. 17. While on injured reserve, Hardman missed games against the Los Angeles Chargers, Los Angeles Rams, Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos.
Hardman has 25 catches for 297 yards and four touchdowns in eight games this season, adding 311 yards rushing and two touchdowns on four carries.
