Travis Kelce’s 12th TD catch from Chiefs QB Mahomes set new single-season personal best
Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce set a new single-season career high for touchdown receptions on Sunday in Kansas City’s game against the L.A. Rams at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
Kelce caught a first-quarter pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes just inside the Rams’ 30-yard line and then did the rest, shrugging off the coverage of L.A. cornerback Jalen Ramsey and breaking a couple of tackles on his way to the end zone.
Kelce’s previous career high for touchdowns in a season was 11, set in 2020. He also reached double-digit TDs in 2018, when he hauled in 10.
Kelce’s 39-yard touchdown and ensuing extra point Sunday gave the Chiefs a 7-0 lead. The teams exchanged field goals after that. The score at halftime, after a second field goal by Harrison Butker, was 13-3 Chiefs.
At halftime, Kelce had two catches (on three targets) for 48 yards; Mahomes was 16 of 27 for 209 yards and a 96.1 rating.
Kelce now has 69 touchdowns in his nine-year NFL career.
Per tweets from the Chiefs Communications account, Mahomes and Kelce have now hooked up for 46 touchdowns, fourth-most in NFL history between any QB and tight end. The Chiefs tandem’s touchdown broke a tie with former New England Patriots duo Drew Bledsoe and Ben Coates (45).
The receiving TD also gave Kelce 442 career points, tying him with kicker Pete Stoyanovich for seventh-most points in franchise history, per the Chiefs. His 442 career points are third-most by a non-kicker in franchise history, trailing only Priest Holmes (500) and Tony Gonzalez (462).
