Harrison Butker, Trent McDuffie among 8 KC Chiefs on injury report for Chargers game
Kicker Harrison Butker and rookie cornerback Trent McDuffie were listed as “out” on the Kansas City Chiefs injury report released Monday, a day after their 44-21 victory at the Arizona Cardinals.
Butker injured his left ankle as he was planting his foot on the Chiefs’ first kickoff of the game after they scored a touchdown on their first possession.
He was was carted to the locker room, where the ankle was taped. Safety Justin Reid handled kickoff duty the remainder of the game and converted one of two extra point attempts.
Butker returned to the game and made a 54-yard field goal and three extra points with a single-step approach.
McDuffie injured a hamstring when his foot gave way on the turf at State Farm Stadium, according to defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. McDuffie, a first-round draft selection in April, played 32 of the team’s 65 defensive snaps.
The Chiefs play host to the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday Night Football. Injury reports will be updated this week.
Also listed on the Chiefs injury report as limited practice participants Monday were guard Trey Smith (ankle), tackle Orland Brown (knee) and wide receivers JuJu Smith-Schuster (shoulder) and Justin Watson (chest).
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes (left wrist) and Reid (hand) were listed as full participants, although the Chiefs did not hold a formal practice on Monday.
The Chargers listed three who did not practice: wide receiver Keenan Allen (hamstring), cornerback J.C. Jackson (ankle) and tight end Donald Parham Jr. (hamstring).
