KC Chiefs rookie wide receiver Skyy Moore dealing with ‘minor hamstring tweak’

Second-round pick Skyy Moore’s time on the field during the remainder of the Chiefs’ annual rookie minicamp might be limited.

The receiver out of Western Michigan, the 54th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, is dealing with a hamstring injury, but it doesn’t appear serious.

“It’s getting better and it’s a minor hamstring tweak,” Moore said Sunday. “I’m just working with (head Chiefs athletic trainer) Rick (Burkholder) right now.

The Chiefs officially announced Moore’s injury before Saturday’s on-field work, and it is unknown when or how he hurt it. While Moore was spotted on the field going through the stretching and conditioning phase of practice, he didn’t appear to work during team drills.

“I’m going to be back soon,” he said.

The Chiefs aren’t likely to rush Moore’s return during the rookie minicamp because the team has 14 wide receivers present. There’s plenty of depth to get through drills.

And when camp concludes Monday, Moore will have at least two weeks of recovery time before the Chiefs hold organized team activities (OTAs), which are scheduled for May 25-26, May 31-June 2 and June 7-10.

When fully healthy, Moore looks forward to working alongside veteran wide receivers Mecole Hardman, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Josh Gordon and Daurice Fountain, among others.

“I feel like the receiver room that I’m walking into has about everything,” he said. “But I feel like I bring versatility and just another playmaker.”
