To the list of undrafted free agents to attend Kansas City Chiefs rookie minicamp this weekend, add Missouri wide receiver and return specialist D’ionte “Boo” Smith.

He announced the move on social media Wednesday.

Odds are against undrafted players from making the team, but Smith has overcome odds ever since his playing days at Raytown High. His path from there went MidAmerica Nazerene in Olathe to Coffeyville Community College to Mizzou through a walk-on tryout.

“Never give up,” Smith said in August, 2021. “Don’t stop, just keep going. Thank God I landed here. I’ve been working hard ever since.”

Smith, a former track standout, played two seasons in Columbia. He grabbed 16 receptions for a 16.3-yard average and one touchdown. Last season, Smith returned 11 punts and posted a 27-yard return against Georgia.
