Here are the KC Chiefs’ NFL Draft picks and salary cap space after Tyreek Hill trade
For the first time since 2008, the Chiefs will have a pair of first-round picks in the NFL Draft.
That’s thanks to Wednesday’s trade with the Dolphins that sent wide receiver Tyreek Hill to Miami.
The Chiefs acquired three picks in this year’s draft (and two next year) in the deal. That gives the Chiefs a dozen picks in this year’s draft, which is April 28-30 in Las Vegas.
Here are when they will select players:
- Round 1, 29 overall (via Miami)
- Round 1, 30 overall
- Round 2, 50 overall (via Miami)
- Round 2, 62 overall
- Round 3, 94 overall
- Round 3, 103 overall (compensatory)
- Round 4, Pick 121 or 125 (via Miami)
- Round 4, 135 overall
- Round 7, 233 overall (via Minnesota*)
- Round 7, 243 overall (via New England**)
- Round 7, 251 overall
- Round 7, 259 overall (compensatory)
*KC received this pick and Mike Hughes in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings last May
**KC got this pick for trading offensive lineman Yasir Durant to the New England Patriots in August
Salary Cap Space
According to the NFLPA’s public salary-cap report, the Chiefs had $1,782,035 in cap space on Wednesday morning.
Twenty-four hours later, the Chiefs had nearly $10 million more in room. The NFLPA’s information shows the Chiefs now have $11,430,785 in space.
It’s not known what is factored into that NFLPA number, and it’s worth noting Spotrac’s estimate shows more room. Its estimated cap space for the top 51 players is $26,202,807.
And OverTheCap.com, has the Chiefs with $28,633,285 in cap space.
No matter which number you consult, the Chiefs are in a much better spot with the salary cap than they were before the trade.
