KC Chiefs’ Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Tyrann Mathieu officially active vs. Dallas Cowboys
The Chiefs officially have running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire on the field for Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Edwards-Helaire, who was activated Saturday from injured reserve, is dressed for the 3:25 p.m. game against the Cowboys at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs had previously designated the second-year running back as questionable, but he practiced the entire week before Saturday’s transaction.
Sunday marks Edwards-Helaire’s first game since he suffered an MCL sprain in Week 5. He will likely share the workload out of the backfield with Darrel Williams, who has started the past five games in Edwards-Helaire’s absence.
Safety Tyrann Mathieu is available for the game, too. The Chiefs had added Mathieu to their injury report as questionable with a knee injury three hours before kickoff.
Also suited up and ready is cornerback L’Jarius Sneed (knee). He put in three straight days of limited practices over the past week and had entered the weekend listed as questionable on the Chiefs’ injury report.
Kansas City listed rookie tackle Lucas Niang (ribs), quarterback Shane Buechele, running back Derrick Gore, cornerback Deandre Baker and defensive tackle Khalen Saunders as inactive for the game against Dallas.
Niang will miss a second straight game but has the bye week to continue recovering from the injury he suffered in Week 9. Veteran Andrew Wylie draws the start Sunday vs. the Cowboys.
With wide receiver Marcus Kemp on the reserve/COVID-19 list, the Chiefs on Saturday elevated wide receiver Daurice Fountain to their active roster. He’ll play on special teams as a gunner.
Tight end Daniel Brown, whom the Chiefs acquired in late October as part of the Laurent Duvernay-Tardif trade with the New York Jets, was waived Saturday afternoon.
For the Cowboys, tackle Tyron, quarterback Will Grier, cornerback Kelvin Joseph, cornerback Nahshon Wright, safety Israel Mukuamu and wide receiver Simi Fehoko did not dress for the game in KC.
Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper is also unavailable after landing on the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday.
