Melvin Ingram will officially make his debut in a KC Chiefs uniform against the Packers
Outside linebacker/defensive end Melvin Ingram officially makes his debut in a Chiefs uniform Sunday against Green Bay.
Ingram, for whom the Chiefs traded last week ahead of the league-wide trade deadline, was not among the team’s list of inactive players for Sunday’s game against the Packers at Arrowhead Stadium.
Exactly how much playing time Ingram sees will be known as the game unfolds. But Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Friday that the defense will “have a few plays” for Ingram in a likely situational role.
Middle linebacker Anthony Hitchens makes his return to action for the first time since he suffered a triceps injury in Week 6. The Chiefs project to reinsert Hitchens with the first-team defense alongside linebackers Willie Gay Jr. and rookie Nick Bolton, who was recently named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month for October.
Right tackle Mike Remmers (knee), defensive tackle Khalen Saunders (knee), tackle Prince Tega Wanogho, cornerback Deandre Baker and tight end Daniel Brown are inactive against the Packers.
The Chiefs previously ruled out Remmers on Friday’s injury report, while Saunders entered the weekend as questionable. Sunday marks a second straight game that the duo will miss.
Rookie Lucas Niang will start at right tackle in place of Remmers.
For the Packers, defensive lineman Kingley Keke (concussion), safety Vernon Scott, linebacker La’Darius Hamilton and linebacker Isaiah McDuffie will not play against the Chiefs.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers also isn’t playing after the Packers placed the NFL’s reigning MVP on the COVID-19 list. Jordan Love draws the start at quarterback, backed up by the recently signed Blake Bortles.
