Lucas Niang works with KC Chiefs’ 1st team offense again as Remmers misses 2nd practice
The Chiefs were missing their starting right tackle for a second straight day of practice ahead of Sunday’s 3:25 p.m. game against the Green Bay Packers at Arrowhead Stadium.
Mike Remmers, who is dealing with a knee injury, was the only player unable to participate in Thursday’s on-field work, the Chiefs said.
Remmers’ injury first appeared on the Chiefs’ late-week injury report leading into Monday night’s home game against the New York Giants, which the Chiefs won 20-17. Remmers was inactive for that game after carrying a designation of questionable into last weekend.
In his place Monday, rookie Lucas Niang returned to the starting lineup at right tackle against the Giants. Niang started the Chiefs’ first five games of the season before Remmers replaced him in Week 6. Niang will continue to work with the first-team offense while Remmers recovers.
Linebacker Anthony Hitchens, who missed the past two games with a triceps injury, put in a full practice Thursday for the second straight day. Barring a setback, he should return to action in Week 9.
Defensive lineman Chris Jones, who was limited Wednesday with wrist and back injuries, returned to a full practice Thursday.
The Chiefs listed defensive tackle Khalen Saunders (knee), fullback Michael Burton (pectoral), wide receiver Tyreek Hill (ankle), tight end Travis Kelce (neck), defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi (hip), cornerback L’Jarius Sneed (wrist), guard Joe Thuney (hand) and outside linebacker/defensive end Melvin Ingram (groin) as full participants for a second straight day.
Recently acquired tight end Daniel Brown made his first appearance on the practice field in a Chiefs uniform.
