Chiefs-Giants prediction: These things must happen Monday for KC to get back to .500
Monday Night Football has been good to the Chiefs.
Since the prime-time show started in 1970, the Chiefs have amassed a 30-19 record for a .612 winning percentage in that weekly slot. That’s second-best among AFC teams (the Steelers lead the way at .653).
The Chiefs played in the second-ever MNF game, beating the Baltimore Colts 44-24 behind Len Dawson’s four touchdown passes at Batlimore’s Memorial Stadium. Since losing to the L.A. Rams in that crazy game in 2018, when Patrick Mahomes set a Monday Night record with six touchdown passes, the Chiefs have won four straight in the Monday time slot.
They look to extend that streak against the New York Giants, who have battled injury issues for a few weeks but are coming off their best victory of the season, a 25-3 drubbing of the Carolina Panthers.
Kansas City is the more desperate team in this one, though. Much has gone wrong for the Chiefs in their 3-4 start, and they need to put together a complete game for the first time this season.
Obvious signs of progress would include: no turnovers, something resembling a pass rush and some legit defensive stops. If the Chiefs can improve in those areas, they should get back to .500.
