Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes leaves Titans game after scary hit by Tennessee

Things appeared to go from bad to worse for the Chiefs during Sunday’s game against the Titans in Nashville.

On a fourth-down play with the Chiefs trailing by 24 points in the fourth quarter, quarterback Patrick Mahomes took a shot to his head while being sacked by Tennessee’s Denico Autry.

Mahomes’ was falling to the ground while his legs were being held by Autry. As Tennessee defensive lineman Jeffrey Simmons was coming to join on the sack, his legs appeared to hit Mahomes’ head and it snapped backward.

Mahomes was wobbly as he got to his feet and his teammates surrounded him as he left the field.

There was a bit of good news after Mahomes went into the blue medical tent. He cleared the concussion protocol, CBS Sports said.

Later Mahomes could be seen back on the sideline but backup quarterback Chad Henne took over and finished the game.

After the game, Chiefs coach Andy Reid said after Mahomes cleared the concussion protocol, Reid made the decision to play Henne.
