Injuries keep KC Chiefs’ Tyreek Hill, Chris Jones out of practice again Thursday

The Chiefs were still missing multiple starters for Thursday’s practice just several days ahead of Sunday’s road game against the Washington Football Team.

The Chiefs said wide receiver Tyreek Hill (quad), defensive tackle Chris Jones (wrist), left guard Joe Thuney (hand) and cornerback Charvarius Ward (quad) would all miss the team’s on-field session for the second straight day, as would tight end Blake Bell (back).

Jones’ situation warrants perhaps the most attention. He was inactive for the Chiefs’ Sunday home loss to the Buffalo Bills. Thursday marked his fifth straight missed practice. He last practiced in the leadup to Week 4’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Hill, who wasn’t observed on the practice field Wednesday, suffered his quad injury in Week 5.

Jones and Thuney, who played with a fractured hand last weekend but didn’t miss a snap, were on the practice field Wednesday without their helmets and watched off to the side.

Ward has missed three straight games, and his continued absence from practice leaves his status for Sunday’s matchup against Washington in doubt.

In some better news on the injury front, linebacker Anthony Hitchens (knee) and defensive tackle Jarran Reed, who didn’t practice Wednesday because of personal reasons, were due back at practice Thursday.

The Chiefs later designated Hitchens as a limited participated on the official injury report. Right tackle Lucas Niang (hamstring) and cornerback Chris Lammons (shin) practiced fully for a second straight day.

For the Washington Football Team, wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin), tackle Sam Cosmi (ankle), linebacker Jared Norris (shoulder), wide receiver Cam Sims (hamstring), guard Brandon Scherff (knee) and tight end Sammie Reyes (back) did not practice.

Running back Antonio Gibson (shin) returned to a limited practice after missing work Wednesday. Linebacker Cole Holcomb (shoulder), defensive tackle Jonathan Allen (knee), wide receiver Dyami Brown (knee) and defensive tackle James Smith-Williams (toe) were also limited.
