KC Chiefs vs. Washington: When, where, how to watch on TV, bet line + kickoff time
As a two-time Super Bowl participant, the Chiefs haven’t been on equal footing with most of their opponents in recent seasons. But a defense that doesn’t seem to know how to stop big plays, and turnovers and penalties on offense, have made this season’s Chiefs relatable to most NFL teams.
Sunday’s opponent, the Washington Football Team, is making the same mistakes. Quarterback Taylor Heinicke has thrown four interceptions in the past three games. The Washington defense allowed a touchdown pass of 72 yards and a Hail Mary just before halftime that covered 49 yards in a loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
The Chiefs can top that. They’ve committed 11 turnovers over the past 13 quarters and do not have a takeaway in that span. In their 38-20 loss to the Bills on Sunday Night Football, Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen averaged 21 yards per completion.
“Turnovers, penalties and explosive plays were things that defined the game,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said.
The Chiefs and WFT stand 2-3 and Washington coach Ron Rivera, who spent five seasons on Reid’s Philadelphia Eagles staff, could have spoken for both coaches in expressing frustration after his team’s latest loss.
“We’ve got too many good football players to not be better than we are right now,” Rivera said.
