Edwards-Helaire, Hill, Kelce, Thuney all injured in Kansas City Chiefs’ loss to Bills

The Chiefs left Sunday night’s 38-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills with a slew of injuries, including a left-knee injury to starting running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire that forced him out of the game.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid revealed after the game that wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered a knee injury, left guard Joe Thuney fractured his hand, tight end Travis Kelce suffered a “little bit of a stinger” and cornerback Chris Lammons had a skin laceration.

Reid indicated that Hill’s injury isn’t serious, saying the wide receiver “hurt his knee a little bit,” while Lammons “will be fine,” the coach said.

It is unclear when Thuney suffered his injury, but Kelce appeared to get hurt late in the fourth quarter after absorbing a hit from a Bills defender during a pass play.

Edwards-Helaire’s injury will command the spotlight over the next few days. The second-year pro entered Sunday’s showdown on a streak of two straight 100-yard games but managed just 13 yards on seven carries before leaving in the third quarter.

Through five games, Edwards-Helaire leads the team in rushing with 304 yards on 65 carries.

“We’ll just see how it goes overnight here and then tomorrow,” Reid said.

The Chiefs currently carry just three running backs on their active 53-player roster: Edwards-Helaire, Darrel Williams and Jerick McKinnon. They have Derrick Gore on their practice squad.
