Kansas City Chiefs’ Chris Jones, Charvarius Ward inactive for AFC showdown vs. Bills
Defensive end Chris Jones will not suit up for Sunday night’s game against the Buffalo Bills at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Chiefs listed Jones, who entered the weekend as questionable with a wrist injury, among six inactive players shortly before kickoff.
Jones has dealt the injury since Week 3 and didn’t practice this past week. While Jones is out, the Chiefs will have defensive end Frank Clark, who missed the previous two games, available.
The Chiefs on Saturday bolstered their defensive line by elevating from their practice squad Demone Harris, who is likely to see action in a rotational role alongside edge rushers Clark, Mike Danna and Alex Okafor.
The Chiefs are also without cornerback Charvarius Ward, who will miss his third straight game. Ward practiced fully Wednesday and Thursday before being limited Friday. He entered the weekend listed as questionable.
The Chiefs listed center Austin Blythe, guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, cornerback Deandre Baker, wide receiver Daurice Harris and rookie tight end Noah Gray as inactive.
Wide receiver Josh Gordon is active and will see his first action in a Chiefs uniform.
Second-year linebacker Willie Gay Jr., whom the Chiefs on Saturday activated from injured reserve, was also dressed for his first game of the regular season. Gay hasn’t seen meaningful playing time since he suffered a toe injury in the Chiefs’ preseason finale.
Cornerback Rashad Fenton returns to the lineup after missing games in recent weeks with a concussion suffered in Week 3.
For the Bills, linebacker Matt Milano, defensive tackle Vernon Butler, running back Matt Brieda, offensive lineman Tommy Doyle and defensive tackle Harrison Phillips were not dressed for the game.
