Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles rushed for 80 yards, giving him 6,018 yards and moving him past Larry Johnson (6,015) for second place on the club’s all-time rushing list.

Charles needs just 53 yards to surpass Priest Holmes (6,070) for the franchise lead.

“That’s pretty cool,” said Charles, who was drafted in 2008 as a complement to Johnson. “Now I’m moving up in names. I just want to win ballgames, really.”

Poe’s a monster

Chiefs nose tackle Dontari Poe had three tackles, a half sack and a quarterback hurry and left an impression on 49ers guard Alex Boone.

“It’s like going up against a monster,” Boone said. “He’s a beast. He hit me with a fake inside-outside club; never seen anything like it.”

The Chiefs had three sacks — all within a span of five offensive plays. Allen Bailey had 1.5 sacks, Justin Houston 1.0 and Poe a half.

“Their front five are by far the best on their defense,” Boone said.

Kelce’s on a streak

Second-year tight end Travis Kelce’s 2-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter marked the third straight game he had caught a TD pass.

Kelce’s three touchdown passes lead the team. He caught just two passes for 15 yards on Sunday.

Hemingway excels

Slot receiver Junior Hemingway took advantage of the absence of the injured Avery and caught four passes for a single-game best 50 yards.

Hemingway’s previous best was 45 yards on five catches in the 2013 season finale at San Diego last season.

Injury report

Chiefs running back and special teamer Cyrus Gray suffered a fractured hand, but should be available for San Diego in two weeks.

“We fixed it up, and he was ready to back in,” coach Andy Reid said.

Cornerback Chris Owens suffered a knee contusion when he and teammate Phillip Gaines collided while trying to block the 49ers’ final field goal attempt. Gaines had a welt on his cheek.
