Here’s what the oddsmakers say about the Chiefs-Chargers game
The Chiefs have won 11 of their past 12 matchups with the Chargers.
It’s no wonder the oddsmakers favor them to win another.
The Chiefs are favored by 8 1/2 points in this weekend’s game in Los Angeles.
That makes them the second-largest favorite of the week. Tampa Bay is favored 9 points against Carolina.
Nevertheless, more bets have been placed on the Chiefs to cover the line than the Chargers, according to Oddschecker.
The individual accolades are tilting toward the Chiefs, as well. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the favorite to win the league’s MVP award, even after one of his quieter outings. And after leading the league in rushing in Week 1, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire has moved to the top of the list to win offensive rookie of the year honors, per Oddschecker.
The Chiefs remain the betting favorite to win the Super Bowl after Week 1, with the sportsbooks’ consensus settling on 6-to-1 odds, slightly ahead of Baltimore, which sits at 13-to-2. The Saints and 49ers are the top-two teams in the NFC.
The Chiefs are 1-0 against the spread this season after covering last week’s 9 1/2-point line against Houston. The Chargers pushed last week, winning by three in Cincinnati, matching the line.
A sneak peek of next week: Baltimore has opened as an early 2 1/2-point favorite against the Chiefs. That number, of course, is subject to change after the completion of Sunday’s game.
