First Chiefs depth chart reveals 3 possible starters who weren’t on Super Bowl team

The Chiefs’ first unofficial depth chart of the season finds a draft pick and two offseason acquisitions on the first team.

Clylde Edwards-Helaire, the team’s first-round draft pick from LSU, is listed as a first-team running back.

Keleche Osemele, who has started all 96 games of his NFL career, is listed as the starting left guard. Osemele signed with the Chiefs in July.

Antonio Hamilton, who made his first two NFL starts for the Giants last season, is listed as a third starting cornerback along with Charvarius Ward and Rashard Fenton.

All others listed as starters on offense and defense were with the Chiefs last season. Depending on how the Chiefs line up against the Texans. As many as eight on offense and nine on defense who started in their Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

Also, Tommy Townsend, an undrafted rookie out of Florida, is the new punter.

Three other draft picks — second round-linebacker Willie Gay Jr., fourth-round cornerback L’Jarius Sneed and seventh-round cornerback BoPete Keyes — were listed on the second team. Fifth-round defensive end Mike Danna was listed on the third team.

Two undrafted first-year free agents are listed on the second team: right guard Yasir Durant from Missouri, and defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton from Missouri S&T.

The chart doesn’t necessarily identify the starters who will take the field in Thursday’s season opener against the Houston Texans.
