Chiefs’ Tyreek Hill considered ‘day to day’ with hamstring injury, Andy Reid says
The Chiefs appear to have dodged a major blow to their wide receiver corps with the start of the regular season looming on the horizon.
Tyreek Hill suffered a hamstring injury during Thursday’s practice, but coach Andy Reid indicated Friday that the ailment is minor.
“It’s day to day,” Reid said. “It’s not a big tear or anything, but it’ll be a few days. We’ll just ease him back in and he got great work in the first part of camp.”
The Chiefs’ speedy receiver was hurt Thursday during one-on-one drills; he pulled up gingerly after catching a deep pass. He received attention on the sidelines from the trainers before jogging inside, which provided a hint the injury wasn’t serious.
Hill was observed during Friday morning’s practice riding a stationary bicycle in a rehabilitation area. He also worked off to the side with a trainer.
Reid’s prognosis for Hill coincides with more good news about another starting wide receiver.
Sammy Watkins, who previously missed four straight days of practice while nursing a groin injury, was back on the practice field Friday.
The Chiefs open the regular season Sept. 10 against the Houston Texans at Arrowhead Stadium.
