These are the new rules for tailgating at Chiefs games this season
There will be no table breaking by Bills fans this fall. Well, at least outside New Era Field.
The state of New York won’t allow spectators at Bills games, although the team is hoping at some point to allow a limited number of season-ticket holders into the stands.
Meanwhile a debate continues in Orchard Park, New York, about allowing fans to gather for tailgating at private residential and commercial lots surrounding the Bills complex, WGRZ-TV reported last week.
In Kansas City, tailgating will continue at the Truman Sports Complex but it will look vastly different.
As the Chiefs website notes, parking at the complex “is for ticketed guests only, and the club reserves the right to confirm that guests have tickets prior to allowing them into parking lots.”
Tickets for Chiefs games will be sold in “grouped pods” of six fans who will be sitting with “known guests.”
For tailgating, the Chiefs said guests should only use the tailgate area behind their vehicle so they can keep physical distancing between groups. Those groups are limited to fans with tickets in their pod.
That means only six fans will be at any one tailgate area at a time, which is a change from years past.
A few other items of note:
- Tailgating in the Truman Sports Complex lot also is prohibited after kickoff of a game
- The Chiefs won’t allow offensive signs, banners or displays at tailgate sites. That includes the Confederate flag.
- Fans will be “encouraged” to wear a mask in the tailgate areas.
- ‘The Chiefs said there will be an area dedicated as a tailgate-free zone.
Fans also must adhere to the Chiefs’ code of conduct, and you can read more on that here.
