Chiefs rookie tests positive for COVID-19. He is asymptomatic, a source says
Chiefs rookie wide receiver Aleva Hifo tested positive for COVID-19, but he’s asymptomatic, a source told The Star.
Hifo is one of six NFL players to be placed on the initial reserve/COVID-19 list, a new designation in place for players who contract the coronavirus or come into close contact with those who have.
The Chiefs signed Hifo as an undrafted free agent in April. In his senior season at BYU, he caught 42 passes for 483 yards and three touchdowns and had another two rushing touchdowns.
The NFL and NFL Players Association agreed to amend the collective bargaining agreement in the wake of opening training camp during the pandemic. Among those amendments, players who test positive for COVID-19 will be placed on a temporary injured reserve, with their returns requiring medical clearance.
