Chiefs reach agreements in principle with entire rookie draft class, pending physicals
A most atypical Chiefs training camp is still awaiting full schedule details, but its participants are virtually locked in.
That includes the team’s entire rookie draft class.
The Chiefs have reached agreements in principle with all six of their picks, The Star confirmed after an initial report from Yahoo Sports, but they cannot be signed until physicals are completed.
Players are not allowed into the team facilities until testing negative for COVID-19 in consecutive tests. Chiefs rookies were tested Monday for the first time.
The team’s 2020 draft selections are LSU running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire (Round 1, 32nd overall), Mississippi State linebacker Willie Gay (Round 2, 63rd overall), TCU offensive lineman Lucas Niang (Round 3, 96th overall), Louisiana Tech defensive back L’Jarius Sneed (Round 4, 138th overall), Michigan defensive end Mike Danna (Round 5, 177th overall) and Tulane cornerback BoPete Keyes (Round 7, 237th overall).
