Chiefs

‘Stuff is crazy, man.’ Patrick Mahomes reacts to uncertainty as Chiefs camp nears

NFL training camps are marching ahead.

Maybe.

The Chiefs are set to open camp next week, and although no schedule for it has been made public, they have informed rookies and quarterbacks to report Monday for COVID-19 testing ahead of training camp, according to a report from the NFL Network.

But that comes with a caveat — the absence of an agreement between the NFL and the NFL Players Association on COVID-19 protocols. While those talks have been ongoing, Texans defensive lineman JJ Watt pointed out that several issues remain unsolved — such as the number of preseason games, a potential acclimatization period for training camp after organized team activities were nixed, the frequency of COVID-19 testing and the response to positive tests.

Yet, according to the NFL Network, players who don’t report to camp on time will face potential discipline.

In response to that report, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes tweeted, “Stuff is crazy man. All this time we had and now we are down to this....”

Earlier in the day, after Watt pointed out those uncertainties surrounding the 2020 season and training camp, Mahomes replied, “Thank you!”

As the two teams set to open the NFL season, the Chiefs and Texans are scheduled to be the first two franchises to begin training camp — provided it indeed begins.
