Chiefs’ Frank Clark says his 46-year-old cousin died because of COVID-19
The disagreement about wearing masks, testing and opening public places during the COVID-19 pandemic continues and likely will for some time.
But Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark has a message for people who think too much is being made of the coronavirus.
“Covid 19 recently took my cousin from our family,” Clark wrote Wednesday night in a Twitter post. “If you don’t think it’s serious it is. This is a tragedy man. ... RIP Kuz Greg. Longtime Cuyahoga County Jail officer who died after contracting coronavirus was loving father, grandfather, pastor”
Clark shared a link to an obituary at cleveland.com for Gregory Clark Jr., who died Tuesday.
Gregory Clark Jr. was a Cuyahoga County Jail corrections officer and pastor, the story noted.
“Clark, 46, died early Tuesday after a nearly two-month battle with the coronavirus that included a 45-day stay at the Cleveland Clinic, where he died. He is the first person — either inmate or officer — at the jail to die from the virus or the complicating health issues that come with it,” the cleveland.com story said.
“Everything happened gradually,” his mother Annie Clark told the website. “They did so many procedures on him, it was almost like they had a zipper on his chest, they had to open him up so much. It’s been horrific.”
That story says Gregory Clark Jr. is survived by his wife of 22 years, three children and a 3-year-old granddaughter.
