Chiefs

The betting public is hammering Chiefs wagers right now. Here are the ones they like

The Chiefs are heavy favorites to open this season the same way they finished the last one — with a win.

And the betting public can’t get enough of them.

The Chiefs are favored by 10 points against the Houston Texans in Week 1 — the second-largest line in football — but the bettors are jumping on board anyway. According to Oddschecker, 88% of the wagers placed on the game have been put on the Chiefs to cover the 10-point line. That’s the highest percentage in any of the 16 games in the opening week.

The Chiefs are favored in 14 of their 16 games this season, per BetOnline. They’ve never won 14 games in a single regular season. They are a slight underdog in Baltimore in Week 3 and at New Orleans in Week 15.

The home schedule is quite generous to Kansas City, with the Chiefs labeled a double-digit favorite in seven of their eight games. The oddsmakers have favored Baltimore in all 16 games.

But the Super Bowl still runs through Kansas City, they say. The Chiefs are +650 to repeat as the Super Bowl champions, the best odds on the sheet.

And yet they’re still a popular pick.

Baltimore (+700) has received the best Super Bowl backing, with 18.8% of the championship wagers, per Oddschecker. After acquiring quarterback Tom Brady this offseason, the Buccaneers (+1500) are the second most sought-after bet at 16.7%. Despite the payout, the Chiefs have generated the third highest share with 12.3% of the market.

A market that remains popular.

While sports have taken a hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic, it hasn’t stopped bettors from putting their money on future NFL games and season-long props, per an Oddschecker spokesperson.
