See which people with Chiefs connections are up for the College Football Hall of Fame

The College Football Hall of Fame ballot was released on Tuesday and it includes Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy and former star tight end Tony Gonzalez.

Also on the ballot are former Missouri coach Gary Pinkel and Kansas State products Darren Sproles and Michael Bishop.

Bieniemy was a 1991 All-America running back at Colorado who finished third in the 1990 Heisman Trophy voting.

Gonzalez was an All-America tight end at California in 1996 and played 12 of his 17 NFL seasons with the Chiefs. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame last year.

Also on the ballot, former Chiefs linebacker Boomer Grigsby, who played at Illinois State and is the only three-time Missouri Valley Conference defensive player of the year (2002-04)

Bishop was a consensus All-America, Davey O’Brien Award winner as the nation’s top quarterback and Heisman Trophy runner-up for the Wildcats in 1998.

Sproles, who went to Olathe North, was a 2003 All-America who left K-State with 28 school records.

Pinkel has the most career victories at Missouri (118) and Toledo (73). He led the Tigers to bowl games in 10 of his 15 seasons and his team won four division championships, two in the Big 12 and two in the SEC.

Also on the ballot: former Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops and Northwest Missouri State wide receiver/all-purpose star Tony Miles, who helped the Bearcats to NCAA Division II national titles in 1998 and 1999.

The ballot includes 78 players and seven coaches from the Football Bowl Subdivision and 99 players coaches and 33 coaches from all other classifications.

This year’s class will be announced in early 2021.

Inducted into the 2019 class were 13 players and two coaches.
