Chiefs dive into undrafted free agents. Follow along here to see who is coming aboard
With six players selected through the 2020 NFL Draft, the Chiefs officially turned their attention to adding to the roster with undrafted free agents.
UDFAs, as their also known by, are players who become free agents at the conclusion of the draft and are free to agree to terms on a deal with any team.
The Chiefs began the draft with 70 players on the offseason roster, and the six added through the draft meant the team still had 14 spots to fill to reach the 90-player limit on offseason rosters.
Just because a player wasn’t drafted doesn’t mean they won’t have a shot at the initial roster after training camp or eventually making an impact. The Chiefs’ current roster has previous UDFAs Daniel Sorensen, Ben Niemann and Byron Pringle, among others.
Additionally, Damien Williams and Charvairus Ward entered the league as UDFAs with other teams.
Here are known players agreeing to terms on UDFA deals with the Chiefs, as initially reported by The Star:
- OL Darryl Williams, Mississippi State
- LB Omari Cobb, Marshall
- S Rodney Clemons, Southern Methodist
- DB Hakeem Bailey, West Virginia
- WR Aleva Hifo, Brigham Young
Other reports:
- Vanderbilt WR Kalija Lipscomb, per Terez Perez of Yahoo and confirmed by The Star
- Florida P Tommy Townsend, per his tweet
- Missouri OL Yasir Durant, per Nate Taylor of The Athletic
