Chiefs agree to terms with tight end Ricky Seals-Jones, sources say

The Chiefs have made a move to bolster their tight end position group behind Pro Bowler Travis Kelce.

The Chiefs and free-agent tight end Ricky Seals-Jones agreed to a one-year contract, sources confirmed with The Star. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Seals-Jones provides depth and experience alongside Kelce. The Chiefs previously lost Blake Bell in free agency, which left them with Deon Yelder, Nick Keizer and Alize Mack in reserve.

The 6-foot-5, 243-pound Seals-Jones entered the league in 2017 as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M with the Arizona Cardinals, where he spent two seasons. He played for the Cleveland Browns in 2019.

In three seasons, Seals-Jones has appeared in 39 games with nine starts, totaling 60 catches for 773 yards and eight touchdowns. He should compete immediately to be Kelce’s primary backup.

Terez Paylor of Yahoo Sports first reported the Seals-Jones news.
