Tom Brady is leaving the AFC, but the Chiefs aren’t done facing him
If quarterback Tom Brady is indeed heading to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, fans might think the Chiefs are done facing the six-time Super Bowl champion.
But guess who’s on the Chiefs’ 2020 schedule?
Yep. It’s the Buccaneers.
The game is in Tampa, Florida, and if all works out for the Chiefs, they’ll be playing there a second time regardless of whether Brady and the Buccaneers are the opponent.
Super Bowl LV will be held in February 2021 in Tampa, and it is the Chiefs’ hope that they can defend their championship.
The news of Brady poised to sign with the Buccaneers, per ESPN and the NFL Network, capped another wild day of NFL free agency. It began with Brady sharing a message on social media announcing his intention to leave the Patriots.
For the last two decades, New England was an AFC powerhouse with Brady at quarterback, winning 17 AFC East titles. In that time, the Buccaneers have made the playoffs seven times, winning one Super Bowl and going one-and-done six times. They haven’t been in the postseason since the 2007 season.
Tampa Bay is coming off a 7-9 season, but had two Pro Bowl wide receivers in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
Brady has a 7-4 record against the Chiefs, including the playoffs. But he and the Patriots have lost three of the last four regular-season meetings.
