Tech N9ne, in Miami for Super Bowl, plans to write a song for the Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City-based rapper Tech N9ne plans to write a song commemorating the Kansas City Chiefs’ first trip to the Super Bowl in 50 years.

“Because we’re gonna win it,” he said Sunday while standing outside the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

And if the team wins, he says: “We’re partying on an island somewhere.”

Tech N9ne arrived at the stadium about three hours before kickoff in the Super Bowl LIV matchup between the Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. Like many Chiefs fans, Tech N9ne said this game is one he had waited his whole life for. The years of fandom have meant enduring games in the cold rain and snow — a far cry from the sunny climate of Miami Gardens.

“My uncle has been taking me to the Chiefs since I was four years old,” Tech N9ne said. “I was always there as a kid and I’m here as an adult and I’m glad and so proud that I’m here to witness this history being made in my lifetime.

“I can’t believe I’m here.”

Before heading to the Super Bowl, Tech N9ne performed a free concert for Kansas City fans to prepare them for the game. About 10,000 fans came out to the Red Friday rally at Kansas City Live in the Power & Light District.

“It was like a real Tech N9ne show man,” the rapper said. “It was so crazy.”

That feeling was intensified in his flight into Miami, which was full of Chiefs fans. Before the flight, he said, Tech N9ne music played as fans practiced their chants.

“Right when I walked in my song Red Kingdom was playing so it made me feel really at home,” Tech N9ne said. “If there were San Francisco fans on there they were outnumbered.”
