Watch Chiefs depart KCI for Super Bowl. They landed safely about 3:30 p.m. CT Sunday
Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid and the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs are officially wheels-down in Miami, Florida.
Early Sunday afternoon, the AFC champion Chiefs boarded a jet bound for Miami, site of Super Bowl LIV and their Feb. 2 showdown with the San Francisco 49ers at Hard Rock Stadium.
The Chiefs arrived safely at Miami International Airport later Sunday afternoon, at around 3:30 p.m.
The Chiefs have returned to this stage for the first time in five decades. They’ll be playing in their third Super Bowl. They played in Super Bowl I and lost to the Green Bay Packers, then won Super Bowl IV on Jan. 11, 1970, beating the Minnesota Vikings.
The 49ers were also scheduled to fly to and arrive in Miami Sunday.
Super Bowl Opening Night is Monday, with the Chiefs scheduled to speak to a gaggle of media (some 6,000 from about 25 countries are credentialed for the week’s events, according to the NFL) at 6:10 Monday evening at Marlins Park.
The Niners’ availability follows.
