Hunt family to host close to 2,000 Chiefs staffers, friends, loved ones for Super Bowl

The Hunt family is heading to Miami to watch the Kansas City Chiefs play against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV.

And the Hunt contingent, which includes Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt and Norma Hunt, the widow of team founder Lamar Hunt, is ensuring it won’t be alone. They’re taking care of their own.

Close to 2,000 staffers, friends and family members will be hosted by the Hunt family in Miami, a team source told The Star on Saturday.

The Hunt family’s generous gesture mirrors what 49ers CEO Jed York announced Friday night: The San Francisco franchise plans to fly “1,500 staff members and spouses” to the game, Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury reported.

After holding workouts in Kansas City through the past week, the Chiefs fly Sunday to Miami for a week of practices ahead of the game, which will be played on Feb. 2 at Hard Rock Stadium.

In addition to fans around the country who are making the trip, those 2,000 supporters hosted by the Hunt family will ensure the team has plenty of support on hand for its first Super Bowl appearance in 50 years.
