Chiefs’ Kelce misses practice because of illness; Chris Jones limited for second day

The Kansas City Chiefs were down two players for Thursday’s practice, while one player returned after missing Wednesday.

Tight end Travis Kelce and safety Jordan Lucas missed work Thursday because both players were sick. Kelce continues to carry the knee injury designation on the injury report.

Wide receiver Demarcus Robinson, who didn’t practice Wednesday because of illness, returned and practiced fully Thursday.

Defensive tackle Chris Jones (calf) was limited for a second straight day, but this isn’t cause for alarm as the team prepares to the play the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 54.

Jones said Thursday that he is “1,000%” certain to resume his full role on defense when the Chiefs take the field Feb. 2 to play for the league championship.

The Chiefs listed wide receiver Mecole Hardman (back), center Austin Reiter (wrist) and cornerback Morris Claiborne (shoulder) as full participants for a consecutive day.

Defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon, who was listed Wednesday as a full participant because of a hand injury, does not carry a practice designation Thursday. This means the hand is no longer considered an injury.

The Chiefs will hold their final day of practice Friday in Kansas City before flying Sunday to Miami, where they will hold another week of practices before the Super Bowl.
