What the Vegas oddsmakers are saying about the Chiefs-Titans game ... and beyond
The Chiefs haven’t reached the Super Bowl in half a century.
That could change Sunday — or will change, if you’re inclined to go with the oddsmakers.
The Chiefs are favored by 7 1/2 points Sunday against the visiting Titans in the AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium, according to several sportsbooks.
They’re favored beyond that, too. After Baltimore was upset last week, the Chiefs became the odds-on favorite to win the Super Bowl, sitting at +135, per Bovada. The 49ers (+165) follow closely behind, with the Packers (+650) and Titans (+650) a distant third and fourth.
Kansas City opened the season as the betting favorite, on the board at 7-to-1 as teams departed training camp in August. The other remaining teams? Not so close. The Packers were listed at 16-to-1, the 49ers 40-to-1 and the Titans 50-to-1. But that’s the past.
The present: The oddsmakers expect a high-scoring game in Kansas City on Sunday. The over/under for total points in the Chiefs-Titans game has settled on 53 points after opening at 51 1/2. The Chiefs and Texans, it should be noted, combined for 82 points Sunday and eclipsed their over/under in the first half.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the favorite to lead all conference championship participants in passing yards, per BetOnline. Tight end Travis Kelce and Green Bay wide receiver Davante Adams share identical odds to lead all receivers this weekend in yards.
That’s the good news. The other side of it: Titans running back Derrick Henry is the betting favorite to tally the most rushing yards Sunday.
Some individual player over/under props, courtesy of BetOnline:
Patrick Mahomes passing yards: 321.
Ryan Tannehill passing yards: 227.
Damien Williams rushing yards: 58.
Derrick Henry rushing yards: 111.
Travis Kelce receiving yards: 80.
Tyreek Hill receiving yards: 76.
In the NFC matchup, San Francisco opened as a touchdown favorite against Green Bay, though the line has since moved to 7 1/2 points, as well.
The Chiefs have covered the spread in seven straight games dating back to the regular season.
