Chris Jones misses practice again, Travis Kelce is limited as Chiefs prep for Titans
Chris Jones is working his way back from a calf injury that kept him out of last weekend’s game. But he was held out of practice on Wednesday.
“He’s getting better,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. “We’ll just see, see how he does.”
Jones, a first time Pro Bowl selection, was one of three Chiefs players who missed practice on Wednesday as the team prepared for Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the Tennessee Titans. Missing workouts because of an illness were running back LeSean McCoy and reserve quarterback Matt Moore.
Jones injured his calf in practice last Thursday, was held out of practice Friday and missed the Divisional Round playoff victory over the Houston Texans. He was a game-day scratch, working on the field with trainers before being ruled out.
He had a big game against in the Chiefs’ regular-season loss to the Titans with eight tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble.
Tight end Travis Kelce, who missed snaps against the Texans, was a limited practice participant on Wednesday. Kelce has been dealing with knee and hamstring injuries. Kelce caught three touchdown passes against the Texans last weekend.
Listed as full practice participants for the Chiefs were defensive tackle Khalen Saunders (knee), cornerbacks Morris Claiborne (shoulder) and Kendall Fuller (knee), defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon (neck), center Austin Reiter (wrist) and guard Andrew Wylie (ankle).
For the Titans, cornerback Logan Ryan missed practice because of an illness.
