Chiefs’ playoff win over Houston drew huge ratings for CBS with KC leading the way
The Chiefs’ 51-31 comeback win over the Houston Texans in Sunday’s AFC Divisional Playoff game meant big ratings for CBS.
The network said the game was its most-watched Sunday AFC Divisional Playoff game broadcast in four years. It drew 35.396 million viewers, CBS said, a 21% increase from last year’s 29.344 million for the Patriots-Chargers game.
That contest started at noon as opposed to the 2:05 p.m. start for the Chiefs game.
The Chiefs’ game reached its pinnacle in viewership at 41.063 million in the 4:45 p.m. to 5 p.m. time slot on Sunday, CBS said. Overall, it had 20.3/44 average national household rating/share, an increase of 19% from last year’s Patriots game.
Among U.S. markets, Kansas City had the most viewers for the game with a rating/share of 54.3/82, well ahead of second-place Houston (31.6/62).
By comparison, last year’s AFC Championship Game had a 60.1/83 in Kansas City.
Here are the ratings for the other divisional playoff games via Yahoo Sports:
- The Packers-Seahawks game, which spilled into Sunday prime time on Fox, had 42.292 million viewers.
- The 49ers-Vikings game Saturday afternoon on NBC had 29.3 million viewers.
- The Titans-Ravens game on Saturday night had 29.412 million viewers.
