Chiefs’ Chris Jones added to injury report with calf issue; Kelce limited again

The Kansas City Chiefs might have started off the week with no injuries ahead of Sunday’s AFC Divisional Round matchup against the Houston Texans at Arrowhead Stadium.

But they’ve made up for it in a bad way within the past 24 hours.

Defensive tackle Chris Jones appeared on Thursday’s injury report as a limited participant in practice with a calf injury.

Jones’ surprise listing comes a day after tight end Travis Kelce showed up on Wednesday’s report as a limited participant with a knee injury. Kelce put in a limited practice Thursday for a second straight day.

It is unclear how Jones, who missed the Week 6 game against the Texans with a groin injury, and Kelce suffered their respective injuries. Both players, however, were observed Thursday participating in the stretching and conditioning portion of practice that was open to the media.

Friday’s practice and final injury report will provide a clearer picture on Jones’ and Kelce’s availability for Sunday’s game. Coach Andy Reid will also address the media after Friday’s workout.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs listed center Austin Reiter (wrist), guard Andew Wylie (ankle) and defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon (neck) as practicing fully. Wylie missed the regular-season finale while dealing with the ankle injury.

Cornerback Morris Claiborne, who hasn’t played since suffering a shoulder injury since Week 13, did not practice Thursday for a second straight day. Reid said Wednesday that Claiborne was excused for personal reasons.
