Here’s what the Vegas oddsmakers say about the Chiefs’ chances to win the Super Bowl
The Chiefs have never had a better chance to win the 2020 Super Bowl than they do now.
So say the oddsmakers in Las Vegas, anyway.
After grabbing the No. 2 seed in the AFC on the final weekend of the regular season, the Chiefs predictably shot up the Super Bowl odds sheet, moving to 4-to-1 to win it all, per BetOnline.ag and Bovada.
Those are the best odds they have had all season — they opened the year at 7-to-1. A first-round bye significantly aids their chances, and playing in the first round significantly weakens the chances of the defending-champion New England Patriots.
The Baltimore Ravens are the betting favorite to win the NFL championship, listed at 11-to-5. The Patriots have fallen to 11-to-1 in some sportsbooks. The remainder of the AFC are all considered long shots — the Houston Texans (40-1), Tennessee Titans (40-1) and Buffalo Bills (50-1).
In the NFC, the San Francisco 49ers are 4-1 for the Super Bowl, followed by the New Orleans Saints (6-1), Green Bay Packers (10-1), Philadelphia Eagles (25-1), Seattle Seahawks (25-1) and Minnesota Vikings (33-1).
In this weekend’s matchups, Houston is a 3-point favorite at home against the Bills. And the Patriots are a 5-point favorite at home against the Titans. If the Patriots win Saturday, they will travel to Arrowhead Stadium next weekend for the AFC Divisional Round. If they lose, the winner of the Texans-Bills game will visit Kansas City instead for the Jan. 12 game.
The Chiefs finished the regular season 11-5 against the spread, tied with the Saints for most games covering the line. Kansas City covered in each of the final six games, including by a half-point against the Chargers in the finale.
