Chiefs’ Damien Williams officially active vs. Bears, but LeSean McCoy is inactive

The Kansas City Chiefs officially welcome back a member of the backfield Sunday night.

Running back Damien Williams (rib) is active for Sunday night’s game against the Chicago Bears, marking his return to the playing field for the first time since Week 11.

Williams put in a full practice Friday after being limited Wednesday and Thursday, and didn’t have a game designation on the final injury report.

With Williams active, veteran LeSean McCoy is inactive as the Chiefs go with Williams, Spencer Ware and rookie Darwin Thompson.

This marks the second time this season McCoy is a healthy scratch. The first occurred in Week 10 against the Tennessee Titans.

The remaining inactives didn’t carry surprises with left guard Andrew Wylie (illness, ankle, shoulder), cornerback Morris Claiborne (shoulder), quarterback Chad Henne, offensive lineman Jackson Barton, tight end Deon Yelder and cornerback Rashad Fenton not suiting up.

Wylie and Claiborne were previously listed as out on Friday’s injury report.

The Chiefs are expected to turn to Stefen Wisniewki in place of Wylie at left guard.
