When new Chiefs arrive, they play ASAP. Expect to see Terrell Suggs on field Sunday
Keep an eye on the newest Chiefs, running back Spencer Ware and defensive end Terrell Suggs, when Kansas City visits the Chicago Bears Sunday.
Ware hadn’t played all season but was immediately inserted into the action at New England a couple weeks ago. With a need at defensive end following a season-ending pectoral muscle injury to Alex Okafor last weekend, Suggs, waived by the Cardinals a week ago after spending his first 15 years in Baltimore, should be part of the Chiefs’ defensive plan.
Bears outside linebacker Khalil Mack
Mack was selected to the Pro Bowl for the fifth straight year, although his sack pace is the lowest since his rookie year. Mack has 7.5 after reaching double digits each of the previous four years. He’s been getting plenty of double-team and chip-block attention this season. This will mark Mack’s ninth game against the Chiefs, the first eight as a member of the Oakland Raiders. He has 5 1/2 sacks against Kansas City.
Bears wide receiver Allen Robinson
Robinson, the former Jacksonville Jaguar, brings a career-best 83 receptions into the game. He’s Mitchell Trubisky’s favorite target. Robinson is coming off a seven-reception, 125-yard game against the Packers last week. He was kept out of the end zone but had four touchdowns in his previous three games. He had a touchdown reception in his only other appearance against the Chiefs, in 2016 while playing for the Jaguars.
Chiefs running back Spencer Ware
No easy back into action for Ware. Since joining the team before the Patriots game, Ware has led the Chiefs’ running backs in rushing attempts in each of his two games. We’ll see if that changes with Damien Williams perhaps returning Sunday. But Ware has been the choice in short-yardage situations.
Chiefs defensive end Terrell Suggs
Expect the newest Chiefs player to appear in his 243rd NFL game Sunday. Here’s what Andy Reid had to say Friday about his practice during the week: “He looks like he’s in good shape and moved around well. He picks things up fast. Very meticulous on all the note-taking in meetings. It’s incredible. He puts it all down there and it’s something to watch, a guy that’s been around that long and how he goes about everything, down to a T. Impressive.” Will he play? “There’s a good chance,” Reid said “We’ll just see.”
