Chiefs’ Mecole Hardman limited in practice Thursday, but Rashad Fenton returns

The Kansas City Chiefs’ injury report grew by one player Thursday.

Rookie wide receiver Mecole Hardman was a limited participant in practice with a glute injury. It is unclear how or when Hardman suffered the injury.

Hardman is fourth in the Chiefs’ wide receiver rotation behind Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins and Demarcus Robinson, but he is a valuable piece on special teams as a returner — a position that recently earned him a Pro Bowl selection.

The Chiefs have their final practice of the week Friday, and Hardman’s status for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears should become clear when head coach Andy Reid addresses the media afterward.

While Hardman’s appearance on the injury report brought bad news, the Chiefs have a positive outlook on defense with cornerback Rashad Fenton returning to full practice after being limited Wednesday.

Fenton battled a hamstring injury in recent weeks and has missed two straight games, but he appears to be on track to return to action barring a setback.

Running back Damien Williams (rib) and cornerback Morris Claiborne (shoulder) were once again limited in practice. Williams hasn’t played since Week 11, while Claiborne hasn’t seen action since suffering a shoulder injury in Week 13.

The Chiefs listed quarterback Patrick Mahomes (right hand), wide receiver Tyreek Hill (shoulder), cornerback Kendall Fuller (thumb), defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi (elbow) and punter Dustin Colquitt (right knee) as full participants in practice for the second straight day.

Left guard Andrew Wylie (illness, ankle, shoulder) sat out Thursday, marking a second consecutive missed practice for the offensive lineman. Backup offensive lineman Stefen Wisniewski is in line to see action if Wylie can’t play Sunday.
