Chiefs running back Damien Williams ruled out of Wednesday’s practice; McCoy practices

Andy Reid said running back Damien Williams wouldn’t practice Wednesday while recovering from a rib injury suffered in the Chiefs’ previous game.

“He’s pretty sore,” Reid said.

The Chiefs finished that game, on Nov. 18 against the Chargers in Mexico City, without running backs Wiilliams and LeSean McCoy, who suffered a head injury. Reid said Monday that McCoy wasn’t in the concussion protocol and would practice Wednesday, which he did.

McCoy and Williams have gotten the bulk the running back snaps this season. McCoy has rushed 79 times for 400 yards, Williams 83 times for 309 yards. Each have rushed for three touchdowns. Darrel Williams finished the Chargers game and had a rushing touchdown.

Back to practice Wednesday after missing time with injuries were defensive end Alex Okafor (ankle) and Kendall Fuller (thumb). Wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who left the Chargers game after suffering a hamstring injury, also practiced.

The official injury/practice report, which was released hours after Reid addressed the media, brought even more good news.

Okafor, Fuller, Hill, quarterback Patrick Mahomes (knee), tight end Blake Bell, defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi (elbow), tackle Mitchell Schwartz (knee) and safety Jordan Lucas (shoulder) were all full participants during Wednesday’s practice.

McCoy was not listed on the injury report.
