Chiefs’ Derrick Johnson goes through warmups Thursday but does not practice
Inside linebacker Derrick Johnson went through warmups on Thursday but did not practice afterward.
Johnson, who missed 15 games in 2014 because of a torn right Achilles, is dealing with knee inflammation on the same leg.
“We’ll just keep giving him a little bit more every day, but he’s obviously feeling better,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said.
Nose tackle Dontari Poe again sat out with back spasms. He has not practiced since he left the field Tuesday.
“He’ll be fine,” Reid said.
Receiver Albert Wilson sat out with what Reid called a “slight” hamstring injury. He suffered the injury on Wednesday.
“Really, it’s more of a knot than a tear,” Reid said. “He’ll be back when we start back up, most likely.”
Reid pleased with progress
The Chiefs have made it through six OTA practices, and so far, things are going according to plan.
“Particularly with the ones and twos, the mistakes are kind of smoothing out,” Reid said. “It’s way more functional than it’s been the last two years at this time.”
OTA schedule
The Chiefs will hold their next OTA practice, No. 7, on Tuesday. The voluntary portion of OTAs will then continue Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
The team’s mandatory minicamp will take place June 16-18. Players and coaches will then receive time off before training camp begins in July. The dates for camp have not been announced.
