Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins officially active for Monday’s game at Rams
After missing last week’s game against the Cardinals, Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins is active for Monday night’s game against the Rams.
Watkins, dealing with a right foot injury suffered against the Browns, only practiced on Thursday, and he was limited that day. He was held out practice on Friday and Saturday and had been listed as questionable for the game against L.A. (9-1).
The Chiefs (also 9-1) had their two worst offensive performances — scoring less than 30 points each time — in games where Watkins either left early with injury or missed the entire game. His addition is a big boost to the unit. He’ll also be going up against his former team. Watkins spent the 2017 season with the Rams after he was traded from Buffalo.
Watkins has 39 catches for 515 yards and three touchdowns.
Wide receiver Gehrig Dieter, who was elevated to the 53-man roster for the first time this season when the Chiefs waived DB Josh Shaw, is inactive.
