Chiefs

Which leap by Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt is your favorite?

All eyes are on Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes when the ball is in his hands, and with good reason. Who knows what kind of magic the talented young star is going to perform on any given play?

When the ball leaves Mahomes’ possession and lands in the hands of the Chiefs’ receivers and running backs, however, it’s their turn to shine.

Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt has magic hands, too. He has fumbled the ball only once in his NFL career, on his very first NFL carry last year against the New England Patriots. He went on to score three touchdowns in that game, and he has rarely let up since.

Hunt performs most of his magic with his legs. So far this season, through seven games, he has a team-leading 542 rushing yards and has carried the ball across the goal line for five touchdowns.

How Hunt gains his yardage is as impressive as his stats. He runs. He bounces off of giant defenders. He spins. He jukes. And sometimes he jumps, as he did in the Chiefs’ last two games, hurdling defenders from the Patriots and Cincinnati Bengals.

Kansas City Star visual journalist John Sleezer captured both of Hunt’s acrobatic leaps at their peaks. Which leap was better? Watch the video to see how Hunt doesn’t let anything stand in his way.
