Chiefs’ 2015 schedule features two early prime-time showdowns


The Chiefs officially released their 2015 schedule on Tuesday, and the Chiefs won’t have to wait long to play in a prime-time showdown. Following a week one road game at Houston, the Chiefs get a Thursday night home game against quarterback Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos.

The Chiefs officially released their 2015 schedule on Tuesday, and they won’t have to wait long to play in a prime-time showdown.

Following a week-one road game at Houston, the Chiefs get a Thursday night home game against Denver and a Monday night road test against Green Bay.

Here is the Chiefs’ 2015 regular-season schedule:

Sept. 13

at Houston

Noon, CBS

▪ The Chiefs’ remade offensive line will be tested in a big way by the incomparable J.J. Watt.

Sept. 17

Denver

7:25 p.m., CBS and NFL Network

▪ The Chiefs will get get their first look at the Broncos, winner of four consecutive AFC West titles, albeit on short rest.

Sept. 28

at Green Bay

7:30 p.m., ESPN

▪ The Chiefs’ secondary will face a legitimate test against NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers and general manager John Dorsey’s old team, the Green Bay Packers

Oct. 4

at Cincinnati

Noon, CBS

▪ A difficult first month comes to an end with their third road showdown in four games against the Bengals, led by star receiver A.J. Green.

Oct. 11

Chicago

Noon, Fox

▪ The Chiefs have to wait a month to play their second home game, but believe it or not, it only gets harder from here.

Oct. 18

at Minnesota

Noon, CBS

▪ The Chiefs get a bit of a break not having to face Minnesota outdoors in December.

Oct. 25

Pittsburgh

Noon, CBS

▪ This will be the Chiefs’ last home game for more than a month.

Nov. 1

Detroit (in London)

8:30 a.m., Fox

▪ Surrendering a home game to play in London is an even tougher blow now. This is smack dab in the middle of a stretch in which the Chiefs will play five of six games away from Arrowhead Stadium.

Nov. 15

at Denver

3:25 p.m., CBS

▪ The Chiefs will get the Broncos after a much-needed bye week, but have lost their last three games at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

Nov. 22

at San Diego

7:30 p.m., NBC

▪ The Chiefs get their first look at San Diego in a game on national television, but will they be facing Philip Rivers or another quarterback (Marcus Mariota)?

Nov. 29

Buffalo

Noon, CBS

▪ The Chiefs will face the Bills for the eighth straight season. They are 3-4 vs. Buffalo during that span.

Dec. 6

at Oakland

3:05 p.m., CBS

▪ The Chiefs return to the site of one of their worst losses of 2014.

Dec. 13

San Diego

Noon, CBS

▪ The Chiefs are 4-5 at home against the Chargers since 2006.

Dec. 20

at Baltimore

Noon, CBS

▪ The Ravens are 11-5 at home in December since 2008.

Dec. 27

Cleveland

Noon, CBS

▪ Former receiver Dwayne Bowe makes his first return to Kansas City since his release.

Jan. 3

Oakland

Noon, CBS

▪ Former Chiefs center Rodney Hudson returns to Arrowhead Stadium for the first time since he signed a free-agent deal in Oakland.
