The Chiefs announced Friday that they have re-signed receiver Jason Avant, tight end Richard Gordon and safety Kelcie McCray to new deals.
Terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Avant, 31, quickly emerged as one of the Chiefs’ top receivers after he was signed as a free agent last November. Avant, who is listed at 6 feet and 210 pounds, caught 13 passes for 152 yards with the Chiefs, and 21 passes for 201 yards and a touchdown prior to his release by Carolina.
Gordon, 27, was signed last December and appeared in two games, one start, with zero catches as the Chiefs’ third tight end. The 6-foot-4, 265-pounder has played in 34 games in four NFL seasons with the Chiefs, Titans, Steelers and Raiders and joins Travis Kelce, Demetrius Harris, Adam Schiltz and Brandon Barden as the only tight ends on the roster.
McCray, 26, was a restricted free agent who spent most of last season as a special teamer after he was acquired from the Bucs last August for guard Rishaw Johnson, who was later released.
McCray, who is listed at 6 feet 1 and 205 pounds, recorded 11 combined tackles and logged 57 defensive snaps as the team’s four safety toward the end of the season.
